Tap/Jazz Technique for Musical Theater 

Musical Theater Tap: Designed to introduce students to the art of tap dance as it is used in stage productions, blending physical technique with the storytelling and musicality essential to musical theater performance.

Musical Theater Jazz: Blends the foundational movement skills of jazz dance with the storytelling and performance quality of stage acting. Emphasis is placed on stage presence, timing, and the ability to transition smoothly between styles, which is essential for ensemble work.

Acro

This class is perfect for students who are looking to increase their acrobatic dance skills. Classes will focus on the fundamentals of acrobatics (cartwheels, handstands, walkovers, ariels, etc.), teaching strength, conditioning, coordination, flexibility, discipline, concentration, and agility. Some basic background in gymnastics or acro is encouraged, but not required.

Strength, Conditioning, and Flexibility

This class combines elements of resistance training, cardio, stretching, and muscular conditioning to help dancers become stronger and more injury resistant. We will utilize weights, resistance bands, and other equipment to get stronger and enhance everyone’s fitness abilities. Be prepared to sweat, get stronger, and have fun while doing it!

Modern

Modern dance is an expressive style that emphasizes grounded movement, strength, stability, creativity, and artistic expression.

 

 

 

Dress Code

ACRO: Hair in a bun, bare feet, leggings and leotard or leggings and tight fitting top (unitards are OK but leggings are preferable as sometimes the mats are sticky). 

STRENGTH, CONDITIONING, AND FLEXIBILITY: Hair comfortable and off the face, leggings or shorts, comfortable top. 

MODERN: Hair in a ponytail/bun/off the face, bare feet, any color leotard with black tights or leggings over top; or completely fitted clothing (no t-shirt or sweatpants).
